+ About this map
Mount Pierce rises to 4,310 feet in the southern Presidential Range of New Hampshire, the first summit reached by the Crawford Path on its long climb north to Mount Washington. It was known as Mount Clinton until 1913, and the Mizpah Spring Hut sits on its southern shoulder, making it the most accessible of the range’s 4,000-footers and a common first Presidential summit.
This map traces the transition from the wooded lower ridges to the open alpine crest. The contour lines are tight on the west side above the Crawford Notch road corridor and along the Crawford Path’s ascent, then settle into the broad, rounded summit before the ridge continues northeast to Mount Eisenhower, whose bald dome anchors the corner of the frame. The east side drops toward the headwaters of the Dry River. Within this frame the terrain covers about 2,700 feet from the valley floors to the ridgeline.
